A project on Promoting a favourable Ecosystem for acceleration and scaling of entrepreneurship led by marginalised women and youth
In the heart of Uttar Pradesh lies the Bundelkhand region, where marginalized women and youth face numerous challenges in accessing economic opportunities. To address this, Alianza and ActionAid Karnataka Project in collaboration with La Caixa Foundation joined forces to promote a favourable ecosystem for entrepreneurship development.
A Journey of Empowerment
Since 2020, the initiative focused on creating a favourable agri-based ecosystem for an inclusive and self sustained entrepreneurship for marginalized women and youth. Through entrepreneurship development programs, mentorship, and access to finance, we empowered around 1000 youth to take control of their economic futures.
Real-Life Impact
– Increased Income: Women like Rekha, a resident of Mahoba district, saw a significant increase in their income through their entrepreneurial ventures.
– Improved Livelihoods: Youth like Rohan, from Jhansi district, were able to improve their livelihoods and support their families.
– Social Inclusion: Our project promoted social inclusion by providing opportunities for marginalized women and youth to participate in the economy.
A Lasting Impact
Our project has demonstrated that with the right support, marginalized women and youth can become successful entrepreneurs. We’ve created a favourable ecosystem in over 55 villages while empowering 4615 individuals (4081 women and 534 men) promoting economic growth and social inclusion in the Bundelkhand region. We have established key Mother Units (requires continued support and training). These include 3 Goatary & 3 Poultry units in Jhansi and Lalitpur and 7 Vermicompost Mother Units across three districts of Bundelkhand region. Women at the Processing Units produce according to demand generated by our 58 Basant Community Farmers Resource Centers (BCFRCs) across three districts. Basant Products are now being sold through regular canopies at 20 identified locations.
Key Achievements:
– 500+ entrepreneurs supported: We’ve provided entrepreneurship development programs, mentorship, and access to finance to over 500 marginalized women and youth.
– 100+ businesses established: Our project has led to the establishment of over 100 businesses, creating new economic opportunities in the region.
– Increased income and improved livelihoods: We’ve seen a significant increase in income and improved livelihoods among the entrepreneurs we’ve supported.
