The project Ahmednagar initiative is working in 20 tribal villages in Akole and Sangamner blocks of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. The project has been engaged with Tribal and other forest dwellers and women, men, children, youth, small and marginal farmers and peasants for their socio-economic and educational development. The project is supporting the community to conserve land, forest and natural resources to sustain their forest-based livelihood. We are regular facilitating for the effective implementation of government social welfare schemes, services and entitlements for sustainable livelihood option to these communities. During the year ActionAid’s campaign resulted in the enrolment of 30 out of school children in government schools and regular tracking of around 600 children to ensure attendance. We have formed 5 children’s groups aimed at educating a total of 120 children about on the significance of education, healthcare, nutrition, and safety. A total of 55 adolescent girls participated in a comprehensive educational initiative focused on gender equality, safety awareness, and public speaking, equipping them with vital knowledge and skills. A total of 75 women were trained through a comprehensive leadership program, enhancing their skills for leadership roles in their communities. In order to assist 180 community members in developing decision-making skills and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, promoting personal development and savings 5 self-help groups were established. We engaged 80 local farmers and 45 women farmers in an extensive training program on sustainable agriculture, aiming to enhance production and food security in the community. Also 22 tribal farmers were supported for bamboo cultivation by facilitating access to seedlings and providing financial support from the government.
